Founded on April 27, in 1865 by Ezra Cornell and Andrew Dickson White, Cornell University is a private Ivy League university with a mission to “discover, preserve, and disseminate knowledge”. Cornell developed as a technologically innovative institution, applying its research to its own campus as well as to outreach efforts.

A federal land grant university with a private funding, Cornell has six locations across the world. Its main campus is on East Hill in Ithaca, New York, overlooking the town and Cayuga Lake. Since the university was established, it has expanded to about 2300 acres of the Finger Lakes region and is so extensive that students can go hiking without even leaving the university.
