If you are not satisfied with the purchase, Michaels allows a full refund within 60 days but it needs to be unused and still in the original packaging.
For returns, customers must check with staff at the Customer Service Desk to get a return/exchange receipt. This receipt states the conditions for returning items. ID is required because Michaels wants to ensure that it’s a customer returning purchased merchandise and not someone who has stolen from its stock of products.
The information on the return ticket is entered into a database used by Michaels and its affiliates so they can determine whether the store has been affected by shoplifting. For online purchases, return to an actual Michael’s location and provide your order confirmation number in lieu of displaying any identification badge.
Returns With a Receipt
All returns and exchanges must be new, unused, and in original packaging. A receipt must not be more than 50 days old. Refunds will be made in the original method of payment. Gift cards and prepaid cards are not returnable or exchangeable. Purchases made with a debit card will be refunded as cash in U.S. only. A Store Return Card will be given as a return tender for all returns made using a gift receipt unless the purchase was made with a check wherein a 10-day waiting period from the date of said purchase applies as store policy.
What is the Michaels return policy without receipt?
Sometimes you need to return something but don’t have the receipt. That’s okay, there’s an easy way around this dilemma! If you made a purchase with your debit or credit card at Michaels’ store, they can track it down for you. For products purchased using your Rewards points to pay for them, we just need the card used to get back in our system so they can apply the correct amount towards your purchase.
If you are still unable to locate your receipt and the purchase was made in cash, Michaels will still be able to help you get a refund. You can do this by presenting the store card to which your lowest price during the past ninety days will be applied. Just remember that if the item has been moved to clearance, a valid ID must be presented and recorded by the associate upon processing your transaction!
Are there exceptions to the Michaels return policy?
Yes, you may have noticed a “no return or exchange” policy at Michaels. While this policy does apply to items like gift cards and prepaid cards, it must be noted that you can return Cricut merchandise; unopened and with the receipt. Just keep in mind that when the item is defective or damaged under warranty, the manufacturer will need to handle the situation.
Another situation that might require a refund is if you would like to exchange the custom framed artwork. Unfortunately, Michael’s will not process a refund for this purchase, but an exchange may be possible if you aren’t satisfied with your custom framing order. If UPS made an error regarding the address and you weren’t given a delivery option at checkout, all frames returned must have tracking information which shows it delivered back to Michael’s where you can then process an exchange or refund of your DYI custom frame purchases.
What is the Michaels return policy on clearance items?
Like any other retailer, Michael’s has a return policy that customers can find at their website. Just like a regular item, you’ll receive a full refund for anything on clearance when the receipt can be found and returned to your local store. If you don’t have the receipt or the store associate is unable to locate it, they will not be able to offer you a refund on any clearance items being taken back.
When it comes to the exceptions of Michael return policy, there are a couple. The first being merchandise that has been labeled ‘Final Sale.’ Whether the sale was clearance or full price, if a product is stamped with ‘Final Sale,’ we will not accept returns because by laying out these items for purchase, we do not take responsibility for their quality. This way as a buyer you know exactly what you are buying and accepting full responsibility after that purchase.

Michaels accepts online purchase returns in their stores, which makes the return process simpler for customers. In-store return process for online purchases doesn’t accept returns through their website though. If you are an existing customer who can’t make it to a Michaels store to exchange an item you purchased from their website, call them at 800-555-1212 and they will arrange for your purchase to be exchanged online within 24 hours as long it’s available for reorder with no additional cost.
